We'll play your playlist, no need to give up a phone. We'll integrate with venue speakers or bring our own to ensure the music is the right volume.

Two handheld wireless mics for announcements, toasts, and prayers. We'll coach your MC on proper mic technique and be attentive throughout the event.

Ceremony amplification
Lapel mic for the officiant, plus processional and prelude music. Especially valuable for outdoor ceremonies. We'll be flexible to your needs.
About
Hi, I'm Sarah.
I spend my weekends watching shorebirds along Utah Lake. Naming an AV (audio-visual) wedding business after the American Avocet, which I love to see when I go out, felt perfect.
I did live sound for 2 years when I worked as an AV tech at the MTC in Provo, managing the audio in small classrooms and large devotionals with thousands of missionaries.
The idea for Avocet AV came after the 4th or 5th time I said, "I bet I can fix this," and jumped to the rescue at a wedding reception experiencing audio difficulties. I figured that with my own equipment, I could do an even better job.
When I'm not at a wedding, you can find me with my binoculars anywhere birds are found :)
Pricing
Straightforward and affordable.
Everything starts from a flat hourly rate. Set up and take-down are always free, not part of the time.
Hourly rate
$75 $50 / hour
The starting rate for every booking. Includes two wireless mics, live mixing, and me running sound from start to finish.
Add as your event needs
Speakers
+$25
For venues without their own sound system. I bring two large speakers and handle the work of hauling, placing, and tuning them to the space.
Ceremony sound
+$50
For wedding ceremonies. Includes a lapel mic for the officiant and ceremony music. Usually a separate setup from the reception space.
Travel beyond our service area or exceptional needs quoted separately.

What's included in a typical reception package?
Our base package includes live audio mixing, wireless handheld mics, and audio support. If your venue doesn't have speakers already, we can also bring two large speakers and tune them to the space. What about ceremonies?
We can support ceremonies in addition to the reception. Outdoor ceremonies, in particular, benefit from speakers and a lapel mic for the officiant. Mention it when you reach out so we know how best to help you.

Are you a full DJ service?
Not quite. Rather than putting on a performance, light show, or working a dancefloor, our goal is to provide high-quality audio equipment and support that meets your needs. We'll work with you on a playlist and music schedule ahead of time so everything sounds the way you want.

How far in advance should we book?
As long as we're available, we're happy to help! :) You can check availability here.

What information should I have ready when I reach out?
Helpful details to have on hand: your event date and time, the venue, an approximate guest count, whether you'd like ceremony coverage in addition to the reception, and any timeline anchors you're planning (toasts, first dance, etc.). None of this is required, so call with whatever you have and we'll figure out the rest together.

What's the deposit and cancellation policy?
We'll ask for a small non-refundable deposit at booking to hold your date. The remainder is due before the event.

Do you travel outside Utah and Salt Lake counties?
Our base rates cover Utah and Salt Lake counties, but we're open to travel a bit further for an additional fee. Contact us for travel rates.
